A modern venue rooted in a centuries old tradition.
The history behind the rambling house name
Dating as far back to the 17th century, a rambling house is a rural Irish tradition. Communities would pick a local abode as a gathering place with an open-door policy where folks could “ramble” in, play cards, dance and sing to live music, and tell stories, all around a roaring fireplace. These joyous, and maybe raucous, nights were a chance for friends to forget their troubles; big and small, near and far.
A MODERN-DAY REVITALIZATION
Though in modern times, these rambling houses are far and few between, many long for the tradition and yearn to bring it back. More than ever, society is craving face-to-face, heart-to-heart communion. To set your burdens at the door and share a song, a story, a laugh, or simply have a seat and bear witness.
At The Rambling House, we’re proud to keep that tradition alive. This isn’t just a bar, it’s a place where the music, the stories, and the people matter most. Whether you come to play a tune, hear a song, or simply share a pint and a chat, you’re part of a long tradition that celebrates connection through sound.
So come on in. The door’s open, the music’s playing, and we are glad to see you.
